Many companies sell
truck restoration parts

Yes, truck restoration parts are sold by many companies in the United States, in Canada and in other countries. In fact there's a huge market for parts and some of the companies we are talking about are very big and powerful.

Chevrolet truck restoration parts may be the easiest to find. If you own a classic Chevy car or pickup I'm sure you know many sources for parts. But the market of classic car parts is so big that you can now see a segmentation in the market with companies specializing in certain types of vehicles. There are many dealers who only sell Mustang parts or Jeep parts. And there are companies that only sell parts for Ford trucks or Chevy Trucks or Mopar trucks.

I know a company located near Kansas City, Missouri that only sells restoration parts for Chevy and GMC trucks. There you can find almost anything for Chevy and GMC trucks build between 1934 and 1972. They have four different parts catalogs that you can get for free and they own a huge junkyard with hundreds of old Chevy trucks. If you can't find a new part for your old truck, chances are you may be able to find a used part in this junkyard and have it rebuilt. The

Jim Carter's junkyard

company is authorized by GM to reproduce original Chevy and GMC truck restoration parts and that means that you'll be able to find brand new parts for your GM truck, although they are no longer made by GM and neither in the United States. Jim Carter Classic Truck Parts has a great Website with complete catalogs on-line and they'll deliver all over the world. I've bought many parts from them for my 1954 truck even when I was in Brazil. Restoration parts for Chevrolet and GMC trucks are also found at LMC Truck. They have parts for GM trucks built from 1947 to 1982 and they also sell parts for Ford trucks built from 1948 to the present. A great thing about LMC is that they have many exclusive parts, that is parts made only for them which are mostly to customize your truck. Their prices aren't bad either. LMC Truck is also locate in the Midwest, in Lenexa, KS but they have a Website and sell all over the world. (http://www.lmctruck.com).

Another company that deserves mention here is NPD, one of the biggest dealers of auto parts in the United States. This company has four fully stocked warehouses, in Florida, North Carolina, Michigan and California and they sell on-line and deliver all over the world. They are also licensed by Ford and General Motors to produce original restoration parts and they know a lot about classic cars and trucks. As a matter of fact, I visited their warehouse in Ocala, FL once and was very impressed with some of the classic cars they were showing there. A good truck restoration project may require products that will enhance not only the quality of the restoration but also your experience with the truck. When the time comes to restore the sound system of your old truck, maybe you can get a modern radio with the looks of the original thing. It will not be cheap but it may be worth every penny

when you think you can have a modern AM-FM system, with CD player and even CD changer. A company that can help you is RetroSound (http://www.retrosoundusa.com)

And if you live in a hot place, how about an air conditioning system? Vintage Air is a company that has over 30 years of experience in that area and produces AC systems for classic cars and trucks that are simply fantastic. They require no fabrication and they fit perfectly inside your car or truck. To know more visit their Website at http://www.vintageair.com.

What we have been talking so far about has to do with the need for parts when you have to look for the parts yourself. The alternative would be to let your mechanic or your restorer look for the parts needed for the repair or restoration of your classic truck. But if you let them get the parts you are certainly going to pay a little more for those parts. There's nothing wrong with the mechanic or the restorer charging a fee for the job of looking for your parts, something that may be very hard and time consuming, as long as they don't charge you an arm and a leg for that.

And if you're in the market looking for classic trucks for sale, remember that it may be wise to spend a little more on the purchase of a truck whose parts are available. Otherwise you'll have to fabricate a lot of stuff and this isn't something most people can do.
